shawdesh Desk: A section of teachers of Jahangirnagar University today brought out a silent procession against the allegations of corruption and irregularities brought against the vice-chancellor and her family members.
Under the banner of Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad, the teachers brought out the procession from the university’s Social Science Faculty premises around 11:30am, which ended in front of the administrative building followed by a rally, reports our JU correspondent.
“The allegation brought against the JU VC and his family members are nothing but a false and fabricated one in a bid to halt the implementation of mega development plan of the university,” claimed Prof Ajit Kumar, who is also president of JU Teachers Association, said while addressing the rally.
Meanwhile, as part of the student protest to press home their three-point demand, they arranged a gathering where they sang songs.
PROBE BODIES FORMED
Meanwhile, two separate probe committees have been formed to investigate the allegation of assaulting two students, who were demonstrating on the campus since August 23 to press home their three-point demands.
The demonstrators alleged that two of their fellows, including Nurul Islam Saimum, were assaulted by BCL leaders and activists on August 27 and September 7.
Prof Rasheda Akhter of Anthropology department will lead the three-member committee to probe into the attack on Nurul Islam by BCL leader Abhishek.
While the other three-member committee was formed with Prof Mujibur Rahman of Statistics as its chief.
Both the committees have been asked to submit report within seven working days.
